Competition hots up for Xchangeteam’s Freelancer of the Year Awards 2007

The nominations have been streaming in and this year’s event promises to be the most high-profile yet. So what’s in store this time around and why do these Awards matter so much to the freelance community as a whole?

2007 sees the Awards enter their fourth year and since the competition officially launched back in July, Xchangeteam has been delighted by the buzz surrounding this year’s competition.

For the uninitiated, the Freelancer of the Year awards were originally established to pay tribute to the dedication and creativity displayed by the UK’s freelance consultants – professionals who often go unrecognised for the brilliant work they do. Freelancing is now a very real career choice for many individuals - over one million people in the UK alone currently work as freelancers and the number is set to soar as ways of working change. This is why the Awards are so important and getting bigger each year.

And this year the Awards are being sponsored by PCG – the only trade body dedicated to freelance consultants and contractors.

Distinguished judges from across marketing, media and communications will select eight category winners and one overall winner. The awards, including a fabulous surprise first prize for the main winner, will then be handed out at a glittering ceremony in a cool London venue on 6th February next year. This year, the categories have been altered slightly to allow a broader spectrum of nominees. They are:

  • PR & Communications
  • Events
  • Advertising & Design (Creative)
  • Advertising & Design (Account Management)
  • Editorial
  • Marketing
  • Public Affairs (and Political Communications)
  • Digital Excellence
